Privacy Policy
Last updated July 28, 2026
This Privacy Notice for Benjamin Nevas (doing business as WanderCast) describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and share ("process") your personal information when you download and use our mobile application, or engage with us in any related way.
Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. We are responsible for making decisions about how your personal information is processed. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you have any questions, contact us at support@wandercast.ai.
The short version. WanderCast is built to collect as little as possible. Your saved stories, bookmarks, saved places, wandering sessions, and trip history are stored on your phone and are never sent to our servers. There are no user accounts, and we never ask for your name, email address, or phone number in order to use the app. We do not use analytics or advertising tools, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your information.
Photos you take with Snap a Story are sent to our AI provider to identify what you photographed, and are then discarded. They are never stored. Because a photo may capture people nearby, please be considerate of others when using the camera.
1. What information do we collect?
Personal information you disclose to us
In short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you use features of the Services or when you contact us. Depending on how you use WanderCast, this may include:
- Email addresses and names, when you write to us for support
- Photos and camera images you submit (Snap a Story)
- Search queries and free-text descriptions you enter (Find a Bite, Find a Shop, Things To Do, location search)
- App preferences and settings (narration style, topic preferences, text-only mode)
- Saved and bookmarked content (Library, saved spots and shops), which is stored on your device
- Redemption codes you enter
Sensitive information
With your consent, or as otherwise permitted by applicable law, we process one category of sensitive information: precise location. We use it solely to generate the location-relevant content you request. We do not use it to infer characteristics about you.
Payment data
All purchases are processed by Apple through in-app purchase. We do not collect, receive, or store payment card numbers, billing addresses, or other payment credentials. RevenueCat validates purchases and manages entitlements on our behalf, providing us with a transaction identifier and an app user ID that we use to add story credits to your balance. Refunds are issued by Apple under its own policies, not by us. You can review their privacy notices at apple.com/legal/privacy and revenuecat.com/privacy.
Application data
If you use our application, we may collect the following if you grant us access or permission:
- Geolocation information. We request permission to access your device's precise location while you are using the app, in order to narrate the places around you. We do not collect location in the background. You can change or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
- Mobile device access. We request access to your device's camera (for Snap a Story) and motion sensors (for compass heading and movement). We do not request access to your photo library, microphone, contacts, calendar, or Bluetooth.
Information automatically collected
In short: Some technical information is collected automatically when you use the Services.
We automatically collect certain information when you use the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity, and includes:
- Log and usage data. Our servers record the requested path, the request method, and the response status. Logs do not include your IP address or the contents of your requests.
- Device data. Information about the device you use to access the Services, such as operating system version, app version, and application identifiers.
- Location data. Precise device location, collected from GPS while you are actively using the app, together with compass heading and movement speed. You can opt out by declining or revoking the location permission on your device, though certain features will not work without it.
- Session and journey data. Themes identified across a wandering session, journey summaries, and the sequence of stops on a walk. This is stored on your device.
- Movement and motion data. Compass heading, speed, the derived movement classification (stationary, walking, or traveling by vehicle), and the predicted next location used to pre-generate content.
2. How do we process your information?
In short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, respond to you, protect against fraud, and comply with law.
- To generate the location-based stories, recommendations, and audio narration you request.
- To maintain continuity within a wandering session and avoid repeating content you have already heard.
- To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to you.
- To fulfill and manage your orders, including story pack purchases and credit balances.
- To respond to your inquiries and offer support.
- To protect our Services, including fraud monitoring and prevention.
- To evaluate and improve our Services and identify usage trends.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
3. When and with whom do we share your personal information?
In short: We share information with the service providers listed below. We do not sell or share your personal information.
We may share your data with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to that information to do that work. We have contracts in place with these third parties designed to safeguard your personal information, meaning they cannot use it for their own purposes.
The service providers we share personal information with are:
- AI service providers. Anthropic (narration and image understanding) and OpenAI (text to speech). Anthropic receives coordinates, a place name, recent session context, and, for Snap a Story, the photo you took. OpenAI receives only the narration text to be converted to speech. Neither receives a user or device identifier, and neither uses your content to train their models.
- Cloud computing and hosting. Replit, which hosts our backend and database and routes our text-to-speech requests.
- Location and reference data. Google (Places API), Wikimedia (Wikipedia), and OpenStreetMap (Nominatim and Overpass). These receive coordinates and search terms with no user or device identifier attached. Some Wikipedia requests are made directly from your device, which means Wikimedia may see your device's IP address.
- Purchases and billing. RevenueCat, together with Apple (App Store in-app purchase).
- App infrastructure. Expo, for over-the-air app updates.
- Website hosting. Netlify, which hosts this website.
- Testing. Apple TestFlight, for pre-release builds.
We may also need to share your personal information in the following situations:
- Business transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
- When we use Google Maps Platform APIs. We use certain Google Maps Platform APIs (including the Places API) to retrieve information when you make location-specific requests. This includes precise device location (latitude and longitude), compass heading and direction of travel, movement speed, derived movement state, the reverse-geocoded place name for your coordinates, locations you search for or pin manually, and points of interest you view or select. We do not store your location on our servers. Coordinates for the stops on a walk are stored on your own device and remain there until you delete the trip or uninstall the app. You may revoke your consent at any time in your device settings or by contacting us.
4. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?
In short: No.
The WanderCast mobile app does not use cookies, web beacons, or pixels. This website does not set cookies or use tracking scripts. We do not permit third parties to use tracking technologies on our Services for analytics or advertising, and we do not display advertising of any kind.
5. Do we offer artificial intelligence-based products?
In short: Yes. Generating stories with AI is the core of what WanderCast does.
We provide our AI features through third-party AI service providers, including Anthropic, OpenAI, and Replit (which routes our text-to-speech requests). Your input and the resulting output are shared with and processed by these providers to enable the features you use. You must not use the AI features in any way that violates the terms or policies of any of these providers.
What our AI features do
- Content and text generation
- Image analysis and computer vision
- Audio and voice generation
- Search
- Recommendations
- Natural language processing
How your data is handled
Content sent to our AI providers is used to fulfill your request and is not used to train their models. Providers may retain inputs and outputs briefly for abuse monitoring before deleting them. Photos sent for identification are not used for facial recognition and are not used to identify individuals.
How to opt out
AI processing is intrinsic to the service, so opting out means choosing not to use the features. You control this by declining or revoking camera permission in your device settings, which disables Snap a Story, and by declining or revoking location permission, which disables location-based narration. Text-only mode in the Configure screen avoids the text-to-speech pipeline entirely. You can contact support to request deletion of any stored content.
6. How long do we keep your information?
In short: We keep as little as possible, and most of what WanderCast creates never reaches our servers at all.
Photos you take with Snap a Story are not stored. They are held in memory only long enough to generate your story, then discarded. Generated audio is cached on our servers for up to 10 minutes so playback is smooth, and is then deleted.
Your stories, bookmarks, saved places, wandering sessions, and trip history are stored on your device, not on our servers. You can delete them at any time in the app, and uninstalling WanderCast removes them entirely.
Your location is used to generate the story you asked for and is not stored on our servers afterward.
We keep a record of your story credit balance and your purchase and usage history for as long as you use WanderCast, so that credits you have paid for survive reinstalling the app. This record is tied to an anonymous identifier, not to your name or email address. You can ask us to delete it by contacting support@wandercast.ai.
Server logs record the requested path and response status. They do not include your IP address or the contents of your requests, and are automatically deleted after 7 days.
7. How do we keep your information safe?
In short: We aim to protect your personal information through appropriate organizational and technical measures.
Information is transmitted over encrypted connections. Payment details are handled entirely by Apple and never reach our servers. Photos are processed in memory and never stored. We deliberately collect and retain as little as possible, which is itself a meaningful protection.
However, despite our safeguards, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information.
8. Do we collect information from minors?
In short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18, or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to that minor's use of the Services. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under 18, please contact us at support@wandercast.ai.
9. What are your privacy rights?
In short: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information at any time.
Withdrawing your consent. If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time, either by changing the relevant permission in your device settings or by contacting us. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.
Because WanderCast has no accounts, the only identifier attached to information on our servers is an anonymous app identifier. If you would like us to act on a request, contact support@wandercast.ai and we will help you locate it.
10. Controls for Do-Not-Track features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature you can activate to signal your preference not to have your online browsing activities monitored and collected. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized, so we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals. California law requires us to disclose this. If a standard is adopted that we must follow, we will inform you in a revised version of this notice.
11. Do United States residents have specific privacy rights?
In short: Depending on your state, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information.
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have the right to request access to and receive details about the personal information we maintain about you and how we have processed it, correct inaccuracies, get a copy of, or delete your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw your consent. These rights may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law.

| L. Sensitive personal information | Precise geolocation | Yes |
We only collect sensitive personal information as permitted by law or with your consent. We do not collect or process sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you.
We may also collect other personal information outside of these categories when you interact with us in the context of receiving help through our support channels, or in the delivery of our Services and responses to your inquiries.
How long we retain each category
- Category A (Identifiers). Your anonymous app identifier and credit records are kept for as long as you use WanderCast, so that credits you have purchased remain available if you reinstall the app. You can request deletion at any time by contacting support. IP addresses are not stored by the app and are used only momentarily to limit request rates. Email addresses you send us for support are kept only as long as needed to resolve your question.
- Category D (Commercial information). For as long as you use WanderCast, so that credits you have purchased remain available to you. You can request deletion at any time.
- Category F (Internet activity). We do not track browsing activity, we do not use cookies or tracking pixels, and we do not monitor activity across other websites or apps. Within WanderCast we record which features were used in order to manage story credits, and recent stops from your current walk are sent to our AI provider so that stories connect to one another rather than repeating. Your search history and trip history are stored on your device, not on our servers.
- Category G (Geolocation) and Category L (Sensitive). We do not store your location on our servers. Coordinates are used to generate the story you requested and are discarded when the request completes. Coordinates for the stops on a walk are stored on your own device as part of your trip history, and remain there until you delete the trip or uninstall the app.
- Category H (Sensory). Photos are not stored. They are held in memory only long enough to generate your story, and are then discarded. We do not record audio.
How we use and share personal information
We may disclose your personal information to our service providers pursuant to a written contract between us and each service provider, as described in section 3 above.
We may use your personal information for our own business purposes, such as internal research for technological development. This is not considered "selling" of your personal information.
We have not sold or shared any personal information to third parties for a business or commercial purpose in the preceding twelve (12) months. We have disclosed the following categories of personal information to service providers for a business purpose in the preceding twelve (12) months: Category A (Identifiers), Category D (Commercial information), Category F (Internet activity), Category G (Geolocation data), Category H (Audio, electronic, visual and similar information), and Category L (Sensitive personal information).
Your rights
You have rights under certain US state data protection laws. These rights are not absolute, and in certain cases we may decline your request as permitted by law. They include:
- Right to know whether or not we are processing your personal data
- Right to access your personal data
- Right to correct inaccuracies in your personal data
- Right to request the deletion of your personal data
- Right to obtain a copy of the personal data you previously shared with us
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
- Right to opt out of the processing of your personal data for targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. We do none of these things.
- Right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal data (California)
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access the categories of personal data being processed, to obtain a list of the categories of third parties or the specific third parties to which we have disclosed personal data, and to review, understand, question, and correct how personal data has been profiled.
How to exercise your rights
To exercise these rights, email us at support@wandercast.ai. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may deny a request from an authorized agent that does not submit proof of valid authorization.
Request verification
Upon receiving your request, we will need to verify your identity to determine that you are the same person about whom we have information in our system. We will only use personal information provided in your request to verify your identity. Because WanderCast has no accounts, we may need to ask you for the anonymous app identifier associated with your device, and we will explain how to find it.
Appeals
Under certain US state data protection laws, if we decline to take action regarding your request, you may appeal by emailing support@wandercast.ai. We will inform you in writing of any action taken or not taken in response to the appeal, including a written explanation of the reasons. If your appeal is denied, you may submit a complaint to your state attorney general.
California "Shine The Light" law
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes, and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please contact us using the details in section 14.
12. What stays on your device
13. Do we make updates to this notice?
In short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated date at the top of this notice. If we make material changes, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this notice periodically.

The Services are operated by Benjamin Nevas, doing business as WanderCast, in the United States.
15. How can you review, update, or delete the data we collect from you?
You have the right to request access to the personal information we collect from you, details about how we have processed it, to correct inaccuracies, or to delete your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw your consent to our processing. These rights may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law. To request to review, update, or delete your personal information, email support@wandercast.ai.
